*See below for how to set-up the SEO widgets shared in this webinar

Here are the four metrics we recommend you use to measure & report your SEO impact:

1. Average SEO Impact

Out of the box, TrendKite’s SEO impact widget will show you the average SEO Impact of all the publications you are mentioned in. This is a useful benchmark/pulse check to know the relative SEO impact of your coverage. Its particularly good for small companies who don’t get a lot of coverage.

How to Add to Your Dashboard:

1. Go to "New Metric" and add "SEO Impact"

2. (Optional): Retitle widget to "Average SEO Impact of All Publications"

Average SEO Impact

2. Mentions in High SEO Impact Pubs

To measure & report on PR's true influence on company search engine rankings, segment out the total mentions in high SEO Impact pubs (60-100 scores).

This is also the widget you want to use if you are a larger company with lots of mentions, because your average SEO Impact will likely skew lower due to smaller publications writing about you. If you are an agency, I would use this as a key success metric for an engagement: "I will get at least 5 mentions in high SEO Impact pubs for this campaign."

How to Add to Your Dashboard:

1. Go to "New Metric" and add "SEO Impact"

2. Click on the gear icon on the top right of the widget, and choose "Edit Search"

3. Use the following Boolean operator in front of your brand terms:

seo_impact:[60 TO 100] AND ....... (your brand's boolean)

4. Re-title the widget Performance in High SEO Impact Pubs

3. Keyword Performance in High SEO Impact Pubs

To measure and report PR’s SEO impact on individual keywords, you can use a key message widget to just look at the key message pull through of high-priority keywords in high SEO impact publications.

How to Add to Your Dashboard:

1. Go to "New Metric" and add "Key Messages"

*Important: this will only work if the master search on your dashboard is your brand

2. Input the top 5 keywords your SEO team wants to rank on with the high SEO impact boolean operator in-front of it

4. Reporting on Coverage Mix & Backlinks

Because backlinks are gold for SEO, we should be reporting when we get backlinks. Not all backlinks are created equal, so we should tag our brand coverage and classify the different kinds of backlinks:
- Good: mentions (introduce a new pr software, TrendKite)

- Better: backlinks (introducing a new pr software, TrendKite)

- Best: anchor text (introduce a new pr software, TrendKite)

Then, we can report on our tags using a Key Message widget.

How to Do This in Your Dashboard:

1. Click into your Total Mentions widget to see all your brand coverage. Tag the articles that contained a backlink or featured anchor text.

2. Add a Key Messages widget to your dashboard.

3. Input the different kinds of backlinks you want to track with the Boolean operator tag:[name of tag]

4. Click save and repeat for your other tagged links
